| Introduction |
Native to Africa, Aloe is also known as "lily of the desert", the "plant of immortality", and the "a substance used in managing discofort plant". The name was derived from the Arabic alloeh meaning "bitter" because of the bitter liquid found in the leaves. The aloe plant is about 96% water. The rest of it contains active ingredients, such as essential oil, amino acids, minerals, vitamins, enzymes and glycoproteins. | Typical Dosage |
A single 50 - 200 mg capsule may be taken once a day for a maximum of 10 days for the relief of constipation. For minor burns, the stabilized gel is applied to the affected area three to five times a day. The gel may be taken internally, using a dosage of 30ml, three times daily. |
| Side Effects |
In rare cases, a person is found to be allergic to aloe. For most people, topical application of aloe is harmless. For some serious wounds and burns, aloe gel may actually impede the healing process.
